When I was a student in High School in the late 40′s, I was told by school counselors that Negroes don’t write, so my dream of becoming a
writer was shot down. When I retired, the dream of writing returned. I enrolled in the UCLA School of Writing (extension) and in the past 10
years, I have written 3 novels and have just finished writing my 2nd book of poetry. I am a living, active witness that dreams need not die, they can be deferred. If the passion is there you can follow your heart. I call my work Historical Factional books because they are based on stories handed down in my family. When my work was not accepted by a few publishing companies, I became an independent publisher and produced my own books. Check them out: MAMA ROSE, I LEAVE YOU MY DREAMS, BEYOND COLOR and a book of poetry, LISTEN MY CHILDREN. Let me know what you think. Joy & Blessings! Bernadene
